Hello everyone! It is your favorite bear here with some advice about how to get those rascally diamonds out of the ground with ease
We all know that diamonds are rare, and found deep in the ground; but just how deep are they? Well, diamonds are set to spawn randomly through the Y:1-20 levels (For those who do not know how to find this reading, hit f3). Bedrock can be found at levels 1-5, so that gives you about 15 blocks high of potential diamond range in any given direction!
But we all know that it's easier said than done when it comes to Minecraft, so here's a few tips and tricks to avoid the calamities that occur when hunting this gem.
1. Mine at Y:11. Why? Because lava pools settle at Y:10
2. Make a central tunnel at Y:11 and branch out from the sides, it is efficient and clean and can help prevent you from getting lost in your mine
3. Keep your wits about you at ALL times! I can't recall how many times I've gotten distracted while tunneling and fallen into lava or come across a boatload of mobs in a cave of DOOM. So stay vigilant!
4. Mining with a silk touch pick will keep your inventory more space efficient and clean. ores such as redstone, coal and lapis can take up unnecessary space in your inventory when you mine with a regular pick. A silk touch pick will keep them in the ore state you find them in for later dissection
5. Use a fortune pick on diamond ore! You can get up to 4 diamonds per block of ore with a fortune pick, so enchant one ASAP!
I'm sure for many of you a lot of this is common sense, but if this tutorial helps even 1 person improve their game then it was worth writing :]
Best of luck my fellow miners!
